Backfill dirt offered to community members on social media

The Landfill Office wishes to advise the community that it is aware of an advertisement for loads of �backfill dirt� being made available to community members posted on social media by Mr. Max Verville. While the offer appears to be made in good faith, the community and the person/company offering the soil are being reminded of the proper procedures for conducting such activities on the Territory.

Landfill Coordinator Tracey Snow has made contact with Mr. Verville and has advised him of Kahnawake�s Policy and Procedures before bringing in any soil to the community. Currently, the Landfill Office is conducting its due diligence before any activity can take place. At this time, this Individual does not yet have permission to bring in soil to Kahnawake.

Also, as is standard policy, any residents interested in receiving landfill/soil must fill out a landfill application with the Landfill Office.
