Garbage Bin distribution ON HOLD

The Waste Management Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to apologize to those community members who waited in line yesterday for a garbage bin and were turned away empty-handed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the community distribution has been discontinued at this time.

Prior to ordering the bins, a survey was carried out on the need. However, the level of community interest was underestimated, which led to the long wait times. Moving forward, distribution will take place for those who have been previously identified by Waste Management as needing a bin.

Following that, a second distribution for the general population will again be scheduled at a date and place to be determined. Waste Management will ensure that a new, improved plan will alleviate long wait times.
