MCK appoints two (2) KGC Commissioners
05/11/2021
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) wishes to announce that it has appointed two (2) Commissioners to the Kahnawą:ke Gaming Commission (KGC).
Daniel Montour and Alan John Rice were each appointed to one-year terms at yesterdays duly-convened Council meeting. After their names were put forth as candidates, both passed the standard due diligence and security checks. The appointments are effective immediately and will expire on May 10, 2022.
The new Commissioners will replace Mark Jocks, who resigned as Chairperson in February, and Herb Rice, who indicated that he will not seek reappointment when his term expires in June. Mr. Rice will stay on until September as an acting commissioner to assist in the transition/orientation period. The third Commissioner is Daryl Leclaire.
Under the Kahnawą:ke Gaming Law, the MCK can appoint up to nine (9) Commissioners to the KGC. In practice this was determined to be impractical and, as an interim measure, the KGC has consisted as three (3) members since it was created in 1996.
