Aquatic Plant Harvesting in the Bay
07/23/2021
The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) wishes to inform the community that aquatic plant harvesting activities will begin in the Bay early next week and are expected to last approximately three weeks.
The aquatic plant harvesting will be done using a specialized boat that will cut the plants at the bottom of the Bay and collect them in nets. These nets will then be brought to shore, where the plants will be dried out and incorporated into other elements of the Tekakwitha Island and Bay Restoration Project.
KEPO asks that all water-users keep their distance from the plant cutting boat to ensure that it can operate safely.
For questions or comments on the aquatic plant harvesting operation or other aspects of the restoration project, please email bayproject@mck.ca or call 450-635-0600.
