KEPO Seeking Participants for Air Quality Monitoring Workshop
07/30/2021
The Kahnawą:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO), in collaboration with Concordia University, will be hosting an Air Quality Monitoring Workshop on Thursday, August 12th, from 5pm to 8pm at the Golden Age Club.
KEPO is seeking community members to participate who are interested in assembling their own monitor for at-home use. Facilitators will guide participants through step-by-step instructions (see picture below) and offer a presentation on air quality impacts on Kahnawakehró:non.
KEPO has been working with Concordia University to create an air quality monitoring network within Kahnawą:ke. Several commercial and home-built monitors will be set-up throughout the community to collect data on conditions year-round. KEPO will collect and analyze data from the monitors to get a picture of the overall air quality in the community.
A light meal will be provided, and COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed. If you are unable to attend the workshop but are still interested in hosting a monitor on your property, please contact KEPO at the number indicated below.
Space is limited and registration is required. Please contact the Kahnawą:ke Environment Protection Office at 450-635-0600 or environment.protection@mck.ca for more information or if you would like to register for the workshop.
