Delta Variant Cases Confirmed
08/03/2021
The Public Safety Commission and the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre (KMHC) wish to inform the community that several cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant have been confirmed within the community. Currently, there are 14 active cases and several more in isolation.
“These cases of the Delta Variant are extremely worrisome for the community, as this strain is more contagious and poses a greater risk to the elderly, along with unvaccinated and immunocompromised individuals,” said Commissioner of Public Safety Lloyd Phillips. “Although we are currently in a green state, we need to remain vigilant and continue to follow public health measures. Getting vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself and the community. The goal of vaccinations is to keep people from being hospitalized and dying.”
Kahnawa’kehró:non who may have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 are being urged to get tested immediately by calling the KMHC at 450-638-3930 ext. 2296 or 2275.
Please note that Commissioner of Public Safety Lloyd Phillips and Public Health Nurse Dawn Montour-Lazare will be providing an update via Facebook Live on the Kahnawake 9-1-1 page tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2pm.
