Chiefs in Ottawa for Iroquois Caucus
11/25/2008
Chiefs Martin Leborgne, Mike Bush, Johnny Montour and Kenneth McComber will be in Ottawa from Tuesday through Thursday, 25-27 Kentenhkó:wa/November to participate in a meeting of the Iroquois Caucus.
Agenda items include the tobacco trade, education, follow-up on Bill C-30 on Native Claims and the Matrimonial Real Property Law.
The Iroquois Caucus is actively working to stop the proposed Matrimonial Real Property Law because it would cause changes to the way properties are divided after divorce that would become another piece of imposed legislation that is contrary to the way we conduct our affairs.
The chiefs will return to the office on Friday, 28 Kentenhkó:wa/November.
