Minimax Recycling truck back in service
09/24/2021
The Waste Management Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that the Minimax truck will resume collection of the Blue Bins beginning this Monday, September 27, 2021.
Due to the recent situation, there will be a mix of both blue bins and bags out for collection; Therefore, the truck and trailer crew will assist the Minimax by collecting the bags for the full week. Regular operations are expected to resume on the week of October 4th, with the regular collection of blue bins.
We are expecting the operations to run smoothly with no additional problems. We cannot stress enough how important it is to place only the items that are acceptable in the blue bin to avoid further disruption in services.
Acceptable Recyclable Items include:
- Plastics with the recycling symbol
- Paper and paperboard products (i.e. cereal boxes), cans (soup, tuna fish cans)
- Glass – jars / bottles
DO NOT place these items in the blue bins, as these items damage the recycling truck:
- Solvents, oils, fuels do not go into the recycling bin. These Items go to the Transfer Depot as Household Hazardous Waste.
- Large metal items do not go into the recycling bin. These items go to the Transfer Depot as metal recycling
- Wood materials do not go into the recycling bin. These items go to the Transfer Depot as construction materials
If you have any doubts about what is recyclable, or any questions regarding the collection please contact the Waste Management Department at 450-632-4321.
Again, we thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.
