Essential Snow Removal Program for Elderly and Disabled returns

The Client Based Services Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that applications are now available for the Essential Snow Removal Program, a service for low-income elderly and disabled community members without relatives to assist them.
The program will operate from December 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, and provides access for emergency service personnel by clearing entryways, such as ramps, stairs, and driveways. The program can only accept a limited number of clients, and previous clientele must re-apply each year.
All Kahnawa’kehró:non on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the service:
- A physically disabled individual or a person or couple 65 years of age or older who;
- lives alone with limited income and little or no extended family;
- has a medical problem (either short or long-term); or
- has no family to look out for their well–being.
