Kahnawake moves to Yellow Alert status as active COVID-19 cases go down

The Public Safety Commission and the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre�s Public Health team wish to inform the community that, due to the decrease in active cases of COVID-19 within the Territory, the decrease in contacts in isolation,  the stability of cases in the regions surrounding Kahnawake as well as Local Public Health ability to contact trace within 24 hours, the Alert Level in Kahnaw�:ke has dropped from Red to Yellow.

At the time this release is being issued, the number of active COVID-19 cases stands at 6. 

Yellow Alert Level is defined as; 6-20 active cases, with 15-45 contacts in isolation. Several measures continue to be maintained within the community to protect the health of the population.

While in the YELLOW level of alert, it is strongly recommended to:

  1. Maintain all Public Health measures of distance, hygiene, masking
  2. Maintain all practices that promote well-being
  3. Evaluate the level of risk in our daily activities in order to protect ourselves and our loved ones

The Alert Levels are part of the plan to allow us to move towards recovery and allow Kahnawa�kehr�:non to make safe choices for themselves and their loved ones. The Color Alert System and its explanation can be found at the following link: www.kahnawake911.com/4thwave.

Public Safety and Public Health will continue to monitor any and all developments regarding COVID-19. Decisions/directives related to COVID-19 are considered temporary measures and are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
