Public Notice re: Quebec Revenue Assessments
01/21/2009
It has come to the attention of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke that the Quebec Ministry of Revenue has sent notices to several Native businesses/employers in Kahnawà:ke to remit duties (“taxes”) for employee-related services sponsored by the government.
In the event that other Kahnawa’kehró:non receive such notices, it is being suggested that these persons contact the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke so that these cases may be assessed or investigated. The MCK may be able to offer assistance or intervene, if necessary.
“We’d like to thank community members for bringing this situation to our attention,” said taxation portfolio chief Peggy Mayo-Standup.
Those affected should contact MCK tax consultant John Latour directly at 450-632-7500. He is in the office from Mondays through Wednesdays.
