Local businesses to re-open at 50 percent capacity

The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force wishes to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that as of Monday, January 31st, local businesses that were advised to close due to the COVID-19 outbreaks last month, will be permitted to re-open at 50 percent capacity, while maintaining strict public health measures.
“As discussed at our last Task Force meeting and as mentioned on Facebook live, we were expecting a decrease in hospitalizations and a stabilization of Human Resources within essential services. We are happy to announce that the expected stabilization is occurring, and we can move forward with opening local businesses,” said Lloyd Phillips, Commissioner of Public Safety.
Restaurants, Cigar Lounges, Social Clubs & Bars:
- Permitted to operate at 50% capacity
- Regular operating hours
- Two households per table/seating
- No seating at the bar
- Proof of vaccination required (to be reviewed in 2 weeks)
- Masking, distancing, and hand sanitizing required
Gaming & Bingo:
- Permitted to operate at 50% capacity
- Regular operating hours
- No Poker
- Proof of vaccination required (to be reviewed in 2 weeks)
- Mask required at all times
- Distancing and hand sanitizing required
- No food or beverage service at machines
Although some restrictions are being relaxed, it is important to evaluate the level of risk of the activity for you and your family. You can decrease risk by avoiding certain activities.
