Community Feedback Needed for Kahnawake Residency Law and Kanienkeháka of Kahnawake Law Regulations

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that two (2) regulations drafted under the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law (KRL) and (2) regulations drafted under the Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke Law will be reviewed for community feedback via online Zoom sessions to take place on the following dates;
- Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm
- Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 10:30 am to 12 noon
An additional feedback period for those who could not attend the online sessions will take place from Friday, February 11th until Thursday, February 24th at 4pm, at which time feedback on the Regulations can be mailed to the MCK at P.O. Box 720, Kahnawà:ke, J0L1B0, c/o Melanie Konwenni Gilbert, General Manager, Office of the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry, emailed to feedback@mck.ca or called in by telephone at (450) 638-0500. The Regulations will be made available at that time.
If you are interested in being part of either of the virtual sessions, please call the Office of the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry at 450-638-0500 to verify that you are on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry and to receive Zoom login information.
Comments from both virtual sessions and mail/email/telephone will be compiled and posted for community input for 30 days, beginning on Monday, February 28th, until Wednesday, March 30th at 4pm. After the 30-day review period of the feedback, all recommendations received will be compiled for review and acceptance by Chief and Council.
