KEPO and Waste Management Co-host Eastern Door Annual Spring Cleanup

04/14/2022

The Kahnaw:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) and Kahnaw:ke Waste Management would like to inform the community that they will be co-hosting The Eastern Door′s 26th Annual Spring Cleanup on Friday, April 29th, from 7 am to noon.

Cleanup headquarters (HQ) will be at the Knights of Columbus Hall parking lot. Staff from KEPO, Waste Management, and The Eastern Door will be on site with cleanup supplies, giveaways, information, and more. Cleanup participants can also register to win a prize, including an eco-friendly gift set worth $125. There will also be a special prize for the "weirdest object found." Objects can be brought directly to cleanup HQ.

On-site, Waste Management will be offering a special collection of items such as electronics, tires, scrap metal, paints, etc. They also ask that cleanup participants save and drop off any cans or glass bottles found during the cleanup, as these items can be recycled.

The event is a community-wide cleanup of litter and debris with the goal of creating a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Kahnaw:ke. Everyone is welcome to participate in any location within the territory.

We would also like to remind the public that since we are in the sixth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, all participants should follow physical distancing, hand hygiene, and mask-wearing (if closer than two metres to others) protocols.

For more information, please contact KEPO at 450-635-0600, environmentprotection@mck.ca, or visit our Facebook event ("The Eastern Door′s 26th Annual Spring Cleanup").
