POSTPONED - Fieldwork for Nocturnal Owl Survey
04/19/2022
The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to inform the community that the second night of the Nocturnal Owl Survey has been postponed due to the inclement weather. The survey, initially scheduled for tonight, will now be conducted on Wednesday, April 20, from 8:30pm until midnight.
A group of KEPO employees, along with four members of Bird Protection Quebec, will be visiting seven stations on the North Wall. KEPO staff will be wearing high visibility vests, and vehicles will be marked. Owl calls will be broadcasted at each of the stations as part of the survey.
The Nocturnal Owl Survey is a nationwide initiative coordinated by Birds Canada and conducted by volunteers throughout Canada. The surveys are used to monitor the health of owl populations over time. This is KEPO’s third year participating in the survey. The community will be informed of the results of this initiative.
