New Member appointed to Kahnawake Justice Commission

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to advise the community that Davis Montour has been appointed as a member of the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission.

The appointment was Passed by Consensus and formalized at the duly-convened Council Meeting held on Monday, May 2, 2022. Mr. Montour�s appointment is on an interim basis until such time as a community representative is appointed to take his place. The Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission will be requesting amendments to its Constitution and issuing a public notice for new members shortly thereafter.

The Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission consists of three (3) voting members, with one (1) non-voting member (the Commissioner of Justice) serving as the Chairperson. The Commission�s mandate is to provide oversight to Justice Services by monitoring its activities in matters concerning the administration of the Kahnaw�:ke Justice System, and also ensure that the integrity of the Kahnaw�:ke Justice System is protected and defended.
