05/10/2022
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise Kahnawa’kehró:non that there will be a student protest this afternoon (Tuesday) at 1pm. Students from the Kahnawà:ke Survival School (KSS) have organized a student walkout and peaceful protest.
All Kahnawa’kehró:non are strongly encouraged to attend the march and gathering to show support in our collective fight against Quebec’s Bill 96.
Alongside the KSS walkout and peaceful protest, a delegation from the MCK is heading to Quebec City to deliver their message of opposition and outrage over Bill 96 to the National Assembly.
The march and protest will begin at the KSS campus at 1pm and then head west along Route 132 to the green space at the foot of the Mercier Bridge. Those joining by vehicle are asked to park along the KSS Boundary line road until the march begins. Buses will be at the greenspace (near the Mercier Bridge) at 12:30pm to transport those to KSS if they choose to walk.
Motorists are being advised to drive with extreme caution during the march on Route 132.
