REMINDER - Kahnawake Waste Management conducting Public Consultation

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Waste Management Department is reminding Kahnawa’kehró:non to participate in a Public Consultation of a draft Seven-Year Waste Management Plan (“the Plan”).
The Consultation is being overseen by a committee composed of representatives from different sectors of the community to ensure all the information necessary for the Draft Plan is provided. The committee will collect feedback from community members, groups, and organizations on the subject.
The Official Notification, Draft Plan, and Supporting Reports can be accessed by clicking or via the Waste Management Facebook page at @recyclinginkahnawake.
Interested parties who would like to submit written comments during the Consultation period can do so by sending to:

“This new plan sets the path forward for our continued efforts towards improving how we manage waste generated by our community,” said Manager of the Waste Management Department Holly McComber. ” Collected data from 2020-2021 shows us that Kahnawà:ke generated 2,493 metric tons of waste and 857 tons of blue bin recyclable materials. Moving forward, we are hopeful of finding more ways to reduce, divert and manage waste more effectively.”
