MCK fills four leadership positions

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is pleased to announce that four key leadership positions have been filled within the organization. They are as follows:

Kaylia Aianohon Marquis has been hired as the Executive Strategic & Accountability Officer within the Executive Office. She has had a very active career, working with various local organizations. She has most recently been the Network Manager for Tehatikonhsontóntie (Quebec Network Environment for Indigenous Health Research, as well as the Interim General Manager of the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office.

Stephan Roy is the new Executive Financial Officer within the Executive Office. He is nearing the end stages of becoming a chartered professional accountant (as a member of CPA Canada) and has extensive recent experience working with organizations such as the CLSC Naskapi, and the Ungava Tulattavik Health Center.

Dawn Marquis-Deere has been hired as the Director of Strategic Planning & Organizational Change Management, which is a new position within the Strategic Organizational Development Unit of the Executive Office. She most recently held the position of Specialist in Administrative Processes, Quality Improvement, Risk Management & Innovation at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre. She has experience in Human Resources (at KMHC) and Customer Services (at the Caisse Populaire Kahnawà:ke).

Roiatate Horn has been selected as the new Director of the Sports & Recreation Unit. He joins ‘Sports & Rec’ from Tewatohnhi’saktha, where he worked in the area of workforce development and was, most recently, Counselling Services Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University (major in First Peoples Studies, minor in Education). He has always had a keen interest in sports as both a participant and, on a continuing basis, as a hockey Linesman & Referee Supervisor, and Referee Scheduler.

“As change is ever-occurring, these new employees provide us with an increased ability to better embrace it,” said Executive Director Onerahtokha Marquis. “We are fortunate to be bringing in people with the qualifications and abilities to handle these important functions.”

“As people can see in the job titles, ‘accountability’ and ‘organizational change’ are front and center in the job responsibilities,” she added. “These are top priorities for the MCK, and expectations from the community. We will continue to work to build the best team possible to serve the community in the most professional manner.”

Kaylia Marquis and Dawn Marquis-Deere begin their duties on Monday, July 18th, Stephan Roy starts on Monday, August 1st, and Roiatate Horn begins his duties on Monday, August 8th.
