Fish Sampling in Recreation Bay on July 25th

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office wishes to advise the community that it will be conducting non-lethal fish sampling in Recreation Bay with collaborators from the River Institute and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne on Monday July 25th. This sampling is part of the Fish Identification Nearshore Survey (FINS) that is inventorying the small fish of the upper St. Lawrence River.
Approximately 15 staff and students will be on-site near the Bridge Memorial to seine net small fish. A short drone flight will capture pictures of the water and immediate shoreline to record algae and plant growth.
Community members are welcome to stop by between 10:30am and 12:30pm to see the sampling in action. For more information on the FINS program visit: https://riverinstitute.ca/research/fins/.
