Heat Warning in Effect

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that a Heat Warning is in effect for our region. Tomorrow’s (Saturday) high temperature coupled with high humidity will create humidex values of 40°C (104°F) or higher. The hot and humid weather is expected to continue through Sunday.
It’s recommended to drink plenty of water, even before you feel thirsty, and to remain in a cool place. You can also reduce your heat risk by scheduling outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION
The victim′s skin is hot, red and could be sweating. The body temperature is very high, sometimes as high as 105 degrees. Heat exhaustion can lead to heat stroke which is a life-threatening emergency. If you or someone you know is experiencing heat stroke, summon professional help immediately and get the victim into a cool place.
