MCK names new KEPO Director

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke wishes to inform the community that Benjamin Green-Stacey has been selected for the position of Director of the Kahnawą:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO).
 
 

Mr. Green-Stacey is moving on from his previous role as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Environment, Lands & Waters Branch of the Assembly of First Nations. While in this position, he has worked as the Acting Director of the Environment Sector on an as-needed basis.

Additionally, he has worked with the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity and the ongoing advocacy for recognition of the Rights of Indigenous peoples within the post 2020 global biodiversity framework of the United Nations Convention on Biodiversity. He is well-versed on a wide variety of issues and topics related to the environment and looks forward to maintaining and building upon the many positive initiatives and relationships KEPO has established over the years.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Sciences (with a minor in History) from Carleton University, as well as an Ontario College Diploma in Business Management & Entrepreneurship from Algonquin College. He is continuing his ongoing efforts to learn more Kanien’kéha.

He will officially begin his new role on Tuesday, September 6th. There will be a cross-over period of four days, during which he will receive an orientation by outgoing Director Lynn Jacobs, who is leaving the position on Friday, September 9th, after a stellar career.
