MCK Legal Services says goodbye to long-time General Counsel
09/01/2022
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to thank General Counsel Jean Pommainville for his exemplary services as he retires following a 23-year career with MCK Legal Services.
While most of his duties were carried out away from the public eye, many Kahnawa’kehró:non became familiar with him during the many Community Decision Making Process (CDMP) meetings he attended in his role as the legal representative on several of the laws being proposed or amended. He is also one of the original members of the Kahnawà:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission, spending countless hours giving his legal advice during the development of the CDMP.
Jean was called to the Quebec Bar in 1988. He joined Legal Services in 1999, and served as Director from 2002-2007. He has provided guidance and mentoring to the younger lawyers over the years, including current Director Mary Lee Armstrong. He holds a masters of Tax Law and has been a professor for many years at Concordia University and Champlain College.
He will be missed by his friends and colleagues. He joins Felicia D’Ailleboust in retirement (she completed her 35-year career at the MCK with a 21-year stint at Legal Services in July).
The MCK wishes him a happy and successful retirement!
