The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) is advising the community that they will be conducting a soil sampling campaign throughout the territory to better understand the concentrations of naturally occurring metals in the soil. The sample areas will be distributed across common lands. The work will include digging shallow test pits with a hand auger or shovel, and soil sample collection. All pits will be restored before the end of each workday.
Approximate test pit locations. All samples will be dug on common lands in natural soils only.
The work will take place between September 7th and 16th by two KEPO representatives. For questions, please contact KEPO at 450-635-0600 or environmentprotection@mck.ca.
