No Horsing Around as Sports and Rec announces special equine youth pilot project

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:kes Sports & Recreation Unit is pleased to announce a unique sports initiative for young persons who are interested in horseback riding, learning about horses, or just hanging around horses. No Horsing Around is a pilot project created to bring the opportunity to Kahnawakehr:non.

No Horsing Around will introduce or reintroduce and support the love (and sport) of horses. Participants will learn about the animals from trained and experienced horse people.

Horses can provide individuals with responsibility, respect, courage, and enhance presence, grounding peace and spirit, said Tracey Snow, who is coordinating the project. Horses are useful for leisure, sport, and therapy.

The project will introduce persons who have always wanted to be around horses and the opportunity to get up close and personal with these wonderful animals. Those interested should apply as soon as possible, as space is extremely limited:

Start date to register:           Tuesday, October 11th (8:30am to 4pm)
