KEPO to host Shoreline Clean-up event

10/06/2022

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO), the GRAME (Groupe de recommandations et d’actions pour un meilleur environnement), and Nathalie Lasselin (Urban Water Odyssey) will be co-hosting the second Shoreline Clean-up event in Kahnawà:ke.

The operation will be held at the Kahnawà:ke Marina from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022. The event will be open to all Kahnawa’kehró:non, the organizers’ teams, and the media.

Nathalie Lasselin will be accompanied by divers to clean up underwater, while the rest of the volunteers will be working on the land portion.

Walk-up volunteers are welcome on the day of the clean-up. Volunteers are advised to bring good closed-toe shoes, gloves, a water bottle, and appropriate clothing, depending on the weather. Cleaning equipment will be provided on-site. Divers who are interested in volunteering for the event can contact KEPO for more information.

For participating, clean-up volunteers will have the chance to win an eco-friendly prize package worth over $100.

This project is being undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada through the federal Department of Environment and Climate Change.
