The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that Brendan Montour has been selected as the new Director of the Capital Unit.
Mr. Montour began his MCK career in 1986 as a technician for the construction of the Sports Complex. He continued working as a summer student in between semesters studying at CEGEP for Mechanical Engineering Technology. After graduation, he began working full-time at the Capital Unit in February 1989.
Returning to school full-time in September 1992 for mechanical engineering, he once again worked with Capital during the summers until graduating and completing his degree in 1997. In 1998, he was asked to fill the role of Interim Public Works Supervisor. The MCK was undertaking restructuring at the time, and the Director of Public Works position was created, with Mr. Montour named as the first Director in July 1999. From December 2010 to January 2014, he served as Interim Associate Executive for Operations and Community Planning Division during another organizational restructure.
He continued his role as Director of Public Works until August of this year when he was asked to assist at the Capital Unit. During this time, Martin Morris has been filling the role of Acting Director of Public Works. A final determination on that position is expected shortly.
Mr. Montour’s background includes studying mechanical Engineering Technology at Dawson College, after which he received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Concordia University and a Certificate in Business Administration from the John Molson School of Business.
“Brendan has basically spent his entire adult life working for the community,” said MCK Executive Director Onerahtókha Marquis. “So, while he is still a relatively young man, he brings a world of experience to his new role, where we know he’ll continue to flourish.”
He formally begins his new role on October 31, 2022.
