Ietsenhaienhs Lazare attending AFN Language Conference in Nova Scotia

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Iets�nhaienhs Jessica Lazare is attending the Assembly of First Nations Language Forum taking place in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday).

Agenda items include the First Nations Action Plan; Accessibility & Ancient Sign Languages; Inclusive Language Revitalization; and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People Act. Keynote speakers include Joan Greyeyes and Commissioner Ron Ignace of the Office of the Commissioner of Indigenous Languages, and Dr. Wilton Littlechild.

Iets�nhaienhs Lazare holds the Heritage Portfolio on behalf of the MCK, of which Language is a key component.
