Governance Project to hold information-sharing sessions
11/10/2022
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke wishes to inform the community that the Kahnawą:ke Governance Project (the Project) is offering information-sharing sessions for community members to learn more about the history of Kahnawą:ke and the evolution of governance institutions in our community.
These sessions are in response to the Projects recently concluded Needs Assessment and focus on what community members conveyed was needed in this phase of the work.
The Project team has put together a resource database with information on Kahnawą:ke history and governance questions, organized around the themes that were identified as priorities in the Needs Assessment. These can be viewed at this publicly accessible link.
Persons who would like to become familiar with this information, learn more, or just talk about any aspect of Kahnawą:ke history or the evolution of the elected or traditional systems in Kahnawą:ke, may contact the Project team to schedule an information-sharing session. These sessions can be private one-on-one discussions, group discussions in the workplace, family groups or organizations, or club-based presentations.
The Project Team will do its best to accommodate whatever day and time work best for those wishing to participate, and the sessions can be whatever length of time suits participants.
Sessions can be scheduled as soon as Tuesday, November 15, and Wednesday, November 16, and are planned to run until April 2023
To schedule a session or ask questions about the Kahnawą:ke Governance Project, contact Project Manager Gerald Taiaiake Alfred at gerald.alfred@mck.ca or Linda Delormier at linda.delormier@icloud.com.
