MCK offers condolences on passing of Dr. Suzanne Jones
12/02/2022
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to offer its condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and patients of Dr. Suzanne Jones, who passed away on Wednesday, November 30.
She served the community as a family doctor at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre (KMHC), only recently retiring after working in the community for 35 years. In addition to her primary role, she also acted as the Director of Medical Services for several years.
Dr. Jones led the pandemic response when the H1N1 Flu hit the world in 2009, which prepared the community’s response that she led in the preliminary stages of the COVID-19 Pandemic in March of 2020.
She was highly-regarded for her dedication to her patients, her diligence, and her straightforward yet friendly manner. The MCK is very much aware of the impact her loss is having on so many in the community.
While funeral arrangements have yet to be announced, we wish to remind Kahnawa’kehró:non that a book of condolences is available for community members to sign at the main (clinic) entrance to the KMHC until next week during business hours.
