Winter Storm Warning in Effect

01/12/2023

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is advising community members to monitor weather conditions and possibly delay travel plans as Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for our region.

The forecast calls for 15 to 25 centimeters of snow, which is expected to intensify this evening and into Friday.

Snow may become mixed with freezing rain Friday morning. Surfaces such as roads and sidewalks could become icy, slippery, and dangerous, making travel difficult.

Kahnawa’kehró:non are reminded to take appropriate action by being aware of rapidly changing weather conditions. In the event of a power outage, please check on elders to ensure they are safe.

Please monitor local media for updated weather forecasts.
