MCK seeks one Community Rep for Cannabis Health and Safety Committee

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) is seeking one individual to serve as a Community Representative on the Cannabis Health and Safety Committee (CHSC), as required by the Kahnawake Cannabis Control Law.
The Committee will, on a continuing basis:
- Monitor the impacts of this Law and the regulations on the health and safety of the Kanienkehį:ka of Kahnawą:ke;
- Make recommendations to the Council of Chiefs or the Cannabis Control Board for amendments to the Law or the regulations that the Committee finds appropriate to minimize the harms of cannabis use within the Territory.
The Committee members are confirmed by the Council of Chiefs and include one (1) representative selected by each of the following organizations:
- Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke;
- Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre;
- Kahnawą:ke Shakotiiatakehnhas Community Services;
- Kahnawą:ke Public Safety Unit; and
- any other appropriate agency
Each representative must meet the eligibility criteria of section 13.3 of the Cannabis Control Law
The Committee also includes a Kanienkehį:ka of Kahnawą:ke, to be selected by a vote held within the Community of Kahnawą:ke and who meets the following eligibility criteria set out in Section 13.3 of the Law:
- Must be a Kanienkehį:ka of Kahnawą:ke
- Must reside within the Territory
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have no criminal conviction for an indictable offense or have received a full pardon for any such conviction
- Must not have an interest in a private entity that has applied for or has been granted a Cannabis-related license
- Must not have a family member who has an interest in a private entity that has applied for or has been granted a Cannabis-related license
