Kahnawake Justice Commission seeks new member

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to advise the community that the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission (�the Commission�) is seeking one community representative to serve as a member of the Commission.
Roles and Responsibilities as a member of the Commission include:
- Providing oversight to MCK Justice Services;
- Ensuring the independence of judges;
- Ensuring the institutional independence of the Court of Kahnaw�:ke; and
- Ensuring the reasonable and sufficient independence of members of the Administrative Tribunal.
The Commission meets monthly, with an honorarium provided as per the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission Honorarium Policy. Eligibility requirements can be found in the Terms of Reference (click here).
Interested persons should submit a letter of intent by Thursday, Enn�ska/February 23, 2023 to:

A signed privacy waiver for a criminal background check will be required.

The Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission consists of three (3) voting members, with one (1) non-voting member (the Commissioner of Justice) serving as the Chairperson. The Commission�s mandate is to provide oversight to Justice Services by monitoring its activities in matters concerning the administration of the Kahnaw�:ke Justice System, and to also ensure that the integrity of the Kahnaw�:ke Justice System is protected and defended.
