Council of Chiefs to meet with federal Public Safety Minister Mendicino

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to advise the community that the Council of Chiefs are meeting with Canada�s Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino this afternoon to discuss matters related to the federal government�s Bill C-21 legislation to amend the Firearms Act.

The meeting was requested to bring forward Kahnaw�:ke�s concerns regarding the potential to restrict or ban certain guns that have long been used for hunting purposes by Kahnawa�kehronon (and other Indigenous) hunters.

The meeting is being held in Kahnaw�:ke.
