King International continues investigation into possible abuses

03/20/2023

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) wishes to provide the following information as a public service:

The King International Advisory Group (King International) is continuing their investigation into allegations of abuses by certain members of the clergy at the St. Francis Xavier Mission.

While the initial investigation into complaints against the late Fr. Leon Lajoie has for the most part concluded, complaints against others involved with the St. Francis Xavier Mission have been brought forth in other forums during the past several months. Therefore, King International will continue to hear complaints from community members who may have been victims of abuses in the past. Those persons who may have been victims can contact the following:

  • Louise Mayo (independent coordinator/advocate) can be reached at 514-793-0662. She will act the intake person in this matter. She is available to answer questions, and explain options and the process itself.
  • King Internationals Brian King at 416-628-6877 (extension 222), via email at bking@kinginternationalgroup.com or by text at 416-346-5833.

Ms. Mayo has been contracted by the MCK to provide independent support, assistance and information the MCK has no involvement in the process. King International is a well-known independent investigation, intelligence, and risk management consulting agency. This investigation firm has been appointed by the Jesuits of Canada.

Please note that Kahnaw:ke Shakotiiatakehnhas Community Services is aware of this matter and is available to provide counselling services to anyone who requires assistance (450-632-6880).
