MCK bids a fond farewell to Heather Jacobs-Whyte on her retirement

03/28/2023

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) and the Council of Chiefs wish to congratulate and thank Heather Jacobs-Whyte for her hard work and dedication as she approaches her retirement.

Heather began her career at the MCK in 2004 after a long and successful career in Nursing at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre. Her first position was as a Research & Policy Analyst at the Lands Unit and moved over to the Strategic & Organizational Development Unit (SOD) in 2015. In December 2021, Heather was seconded as the Interim General Manager of Housing Programs & Client Services. In July 2022, she was named General Manager of the aforementioned position.

Heathers professionalism, knowledge of MCK policies, and work ethic were beyond reproach, said Ratsnhaienhs Ryan Montour, who leads the Housing Portfolio on behalf of the MCK. She played a key role in the development of SODs mandate and policies for the MCK, many of which have already been implemented.

Heathers skills and experience were also employed in the Housing file, as she managed the much-needed updates on policies and processes of the unit over the last several months and worked closely with the Director and other Key Leadership stakeholders, providing updates and information during the Housing Units transformation. One of her final projects was the creation of the Housing Units new newsletter, which launched earlier this month with great success. Last, but not least, Heather managed to create a robust Housing Client Experience Team, providing guidance, support, and inspiration to our younger team-members in Housing.

Heathers last official day as an MCK employee is March 31st.
