Joe Delaronde rides off into the sunset after an illustrious career

03/29/2023

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK), along with the Council of Chiefs, wish to extend their congratulations and best wishes to Political Press Attaché Joe Delaronde on his retirement.

Joe began his stellar career at the MCK in 2002 as a member of the Communications Team where he played a key role in the day-to-day communications and sharing of important information to the community. He later began consulting for the Office of the Council of Chiefs, leading to his long-time position as Political Press Attaché. Joe also worked on many important projects, including two Casino referendums, and was instrumental in the creation and development of Kwatokent Television, better known as KTV.

Joe served his community as an elected official, sitting on Council from 1988 to 1990, and as a radio personality on K103 Radio (now known as K1037), where he also did stints as Program Director and Station Manager. He brought his vast knowledge of the community and its history to provide his brand of color commentary when speaking on behalf of the MCK. Joe has also been a staple at many local social & sporting events, often acting as the Master of Ceremonies and providing play-by-play commentary for the local figure skating club, lacrosse & hockey games. He was even a color commentator on TSN 690 for the short-lived Montreal Express of the National Lacrosse League.

“Joe will certainly be missed!” said Michael Delisle Jr. “We’ve worked together for many years and become great friends as well. Joe set the bar very high in the realm of political communications; his undaunting professionalism will be missed, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”

“Despite being a true-blue New York Giants fan, Joe’s work, professionalism, and commitment to the MCK & community is second to none,” said Eagles fan par extraordinaire and Ohén:ton I:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. “Joe worked diligently to ensure the lines of communication were open to the community and often provided guidance and advice to the Council of Chiefs and his team in the Public Relations Unit. We wish Joe the very best in his retirement and thank him for his years of dedication and service to the community.”

Joe’s last official day of work is Friday, March 31, 2023. Happy Retirement!
