Ratitsenhaienhs attending AFNQL and Iroquois Caucus meetings

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs (Grand Chief) Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer and Chief Political Advisor Winona Polson-Lahache are in Quebec City to attend the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador Chiefs’ General Assembly. The discussion topics over the course of the three (3) day meeting will include governance and self-determination, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), along with reports and updates on various portfolios.
Additionally, Nitsénhaienhs Tonya Perron and Iohahi:io Delisle are attending the Iroquois Caucus meeting in Ottawa. The two-day meeting, which began on Monday, includes updates on Bill C-92 (Children, Youth and Families), Harvesting, action plan for UNDRIP, and a meeting with the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations Marc Miller.
Sky-Deer returns to the office on Friday, April 21st, and Perron and Delisle return this afternoon.
