MCK offers condolences on the passing of Angus Diabo

04/26/2023

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) is offering its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Angus ′Ozzie′ Diabo, who passed away on April 15, 2023, at the age of 78.

Angus, or ′Ozzie,′ as he was better known, began working for the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke′s Daily Transportation Department as a spare bus driver in October of 1987. He became a permanent employee on September 5, 1989.

Throughout his nearly 30-year career, he safely transported hundreds of grade school and nursery/kindergarten students for both Kateri and Karonhiannhnha Schools right up until his retirement on September 9, 2016.

"We were co-workers and friends," said Daily Transportation Manager Spencer McComber. "We were partners for the summer program from the time I started until his final summer with us. He was a great friend and role model to all his co-workers. He will be remembered by all who drove alongside him."

Ozzie was laid to rest yesterday afternoon.
