Appointment of members of the Community Review Board

The Justice Services Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke is pleased to announce the appointment of three (3) individuals to the Community Review Board (CRB).

The newly-appointed members of the CRB are Ms. Rose-Ann Morris, Ms. Treena Delisle, and Mr. Gilbert Terrance (from Akwesasne). They were officially appointed by the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Also approved by the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission were key governance documents for the CRB, including a Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest Policy, and Oath of Office.

The CRB is mandated to perform various duties set forth in the Kanien�keh�:ka of Kahnaw�:ke Law, Kahnaw�:ke Residency Law, and related regulations. These duties include reviewing decisions by the Registrar and the Compliance Officer. It is an interim board that will function until such time as the Administrative Tribunal is operational pursuant to the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Act.

An orientation meeting will be held between the members of the CRB and Justice Services soon. The members of the CRB will be undergoing training and are expected to begin deciding requests for review by late summer 2023.
