Sky-Deer to attend Harvard Business School

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs (Grand Chief) Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer will be attending a five (5) day course at the Harvard Business School, located at the Harvard University Campus in Boston, Massachusetts.

“This is truly an amazing opportunity, and I’m grateful for being selected to participate in this course,” said Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs (Grand Chief) Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. “This course will be extremely valuable in my day-to-day duties as an elected official, to ensure we make educated decisions when it comes to the various aspects of leadership and business.”

The five-day course, which will be held from May 8 to 12, 2023, is aimed at providing First Nations Leaders, Executives, Administrators and Senior Managers of Indigenous communities and organizations with programs & training in the areas of investment governance, entrepreneurial finance, negotiations and change management.

This program is made available through AFOA Canada, a non-profit organization that assists Indigenous Peoples with opportunities to foster capacity development in the area of governance, finance and management.

The cost of the course, tuition, accommodations, and meals will be covered by the TD Bank Group, which offers scholarships for Indigenous Peoples for this specially tailored program.

There will be a group of forty-seven (47) First Nations participants from Canada, four (4) from New Zealand, and one (1) from Australia. The United States will have about forty (40) participants.

Sky-Deer will return to the office on Monday, May 15, 2023.
