Recreation Bay Wave Monitoring Study

05/19/2023

The Kahnaw:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) wishes to notify the community that, in collaboration with the University of Ottawa, Wave Monitoring equipment will be installed in the Recreation Bay from today (Friday, May 19) until Friday, May 26.

The monitors will help to better understand the effects of seaway traffic on the Bay by measuring depth, wave height, and turbidity (muddiness).

Cinder blocks and/or iron stakes may be used to anchor the equipment. The community is asked to avoid interaction with these submerged instruments. They will be removed after one week of data collection.

Please call KEPO at 450-635-0600 or email at environmentprotection@mck.ca if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
