Special Weather Statement issued for high heat event

05/31/2023

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement due to the high heat event expected over the next three (3) days.

It will be generally hot and sunny today (Wednesday) through Friday, with temperatures hovering around 30°C (86°F). However, the weather will remain dry, limiting the added effect of moisture on the temperature felt.

During high-heat events, it’s recommended to drink plenty of water, even before you feel thirsty.

Young children, pregnant women, the elderly, those with chronic underlying medical issues, and people working outdoors are at a higher risk.
