MCK offers condolences on the passing of Marty Deer

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to offer its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Michael �Marty� Deer, who passed away on June 24, 2023, at the age of 83.

�Marty,� as he was better known, was an ironworker for many years until he joined the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke Public Works Unit in March of 1982 as superintendent of Roads with the MCK Capital Unit, later becoming Supervisor of Infrastructure and Construction in 1993.

Marty moved to the Public Works Unit in 1995 as Construction Supervisor Roads & Bridges Superintendent, and finally as MCK Roads & Bridges Supervisor in 1996 until he retired in 2005.

Marty is resting at his home in Kahnaw�:ke, around the corner from the old Evelyn�s Convenience store. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 2pm at the St. Francis Xavier Church.
