Swimming in Tioweroton now safe
08/01/2023
The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to advise the community that all common swimming areas in Tioweró:ton have now been deemed safe for swimming.
Recent water sampling by technicians from Environmental Health Services (EHS) of Kahnawake Shakotiia′takehnhas Community Services has revealed that all tested areas are acceptable.
EHS wishes to remind community members that, although the water is safe for swimming, it does NOT equate to safe for drinking. Water should be boiled before consumption. The safest route is to get water from the Caretaker′s tap or other safe source.
For more information, please contact Environmental Health Services at 450-635-9945 or the Public Safety Unit at 450-632-0635.
