MCK Election Law Community Consultation meeting postponed

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform Kahnawa′kehr�:non that the Community Consultation meeting to obtain a mandate to amend the MCK Election Law (the Law) has been postponed.

The meeting was initially scheduled for Tuesday, August 8.

"We understand that summer is a hectic time for many community members, making it difficult to ensure participation in these hearings," said Executive Operations Officer Alan John Rice. "This is why we′ve decided to postpone until September when we′ve historically had much more attendance."

The MCK encourages community members to take part in future hearings to set the mandate and determine what parts of the Law should be amended.

The new date for the Consultation will be announced to the community as soon as it becomes available.
