Barriers installed to improve safety on Clay Mountains pedestrian pathway
08/16/2023
The Public Safety Division would like to inform the community that steps have been taken to help improve safety on the Clay Mountains pedestrian pathway.
The Public Works Department has installed concrete “Jersey” barriers and signage (see pictures below) to prevent ATVs and other motorized vehicles from accessing the pedestrian pathway. Additional barriers for the pedestrian path will be installed at a later date.
“The installation of these barriers will greatly enhance safety in the residential area, and provide another level of security for our elders and young children who use the pathway,” said Atiesa Foot of Public Safety. “The barriers will also help improve the quality of life for residents who live along the path, who have been plagued by ATV noise at all hours of the day and night.”
New signage will soon be installed, reminding residents that the use of motorized vehicles on the pedestrian pathway is prohibited. The signs will be highly visible to ensure that they can be seen during the winter months.
The Public Safety Division would like to remind ATV users to be respectful to their fellow Kahnawa’kehró:non, and to follow the community’s ATV Law.
