MCK offers condolences

09/18/2023

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke is offering its deepest condolences to the family and friends who suffered a tragic loss over the weekend.

Experiencing loss is a challenging time, even more so when it occurs suddenly, and when those who enter the Spirit World are young. As a collective, we must ensure our loved ones have the necessary support available as they endure the grieving process. While we have traditions and practices that help us deal with loss, additional assistance for community members is also being provided through Kahnaw:ke Shakotiiatakehnhas Community Services (KSCS) and other organizations. We urge those who are experiencing this tragedy to reach out for help, and to offer it to those close to you who may need it.

Our community shares in the grief of this tremendous loss. On behalf of the entire organization, we offer our sincerest condolences to the family. Our thoughts are with those affected by the tragedy, friends, relatives, and first responders.

At 9am, the Council of Chiefs observed a moment of silence for the individual who has now begun their journey into the Spirit World.
