Non-local drowning at Quarry

On the evening of October 1, 2023, at 17:22, the Kahnawake Peacekeepers received a call transferred from 911, reporting a possible drowning at the Bedard Quarry.

Peacekeepers responded to the scene and located two (2) non-local youths. They advised that their friend jumped into the water from a cliff. The 12-year-old non-local female went under the water and did not resurface. 

Attempts were made by emergency responders to retrieve the victim but were unsuccessful. A S�ret� Du Quebec dive team was called to assist with the recovery.

Out of respect to the family of the deceased, no other information will be released.
