Route 138-132 east Service Road Resurfacing project begins tonight
10/20/2023
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community of an upcoming major project to resurface the R-138/R-132 east Service Road that will have an impact on local and non-local traffic on Friday, November 3 at 10:30pm until Monday, November 6 at 5:30am.
The resurfacing was scheduled to be carried out in Spring 2024, but due to the progression of works, a decision between the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) and MCK was made and agreed upon to have this phase of the project completed before the end of this construction season.
As a result, the R-138/R-32 east Service Road (towards St. Constant/La Prairie) will be completely closed tonight at 10:30pm until 5am Saturday for preparation work for the resurfacing. See map below.
Detours & Alternate Routes: Motorists wishing to access R-132 east from R-138 east will be detoured over the Montreal-bound Mercier Bridge to the Clement street exit, and then to R-138 west/ Kahnawà:ke-bound Mercier Bridge to the R-132 east exit. Motorists from points west of Kahnawà:ke (Chateauguay, Lery, Mercier, etc.) are being advised to use A-30 towards R-132 (St. Constant/La Prairie).
Local motorists are being advised to use the local road network to access points east of the Village area.
During this closure, R-207 from R-138 east will be for local traffic ONLY.
Please drive with caution and slow down when entering construction zones and respect the Move-Over Law when you see flashing lights.
The MCK reminds the public that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints, or work progression
and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
